Sheng Xiaoyan, a member of the Communist Youth League. She is a 2019 undergraduate of English major in the School of Foreign Languages, and the chairman of the student union of the school. She participated in the 14th Young Marx Project of Jiangnan University. During the summer, she carried out an internship at the Party and Mass Work Office of Wuxi Liyuan Party Development Zone, and participated in voluntary work on epidemic prevention and control in Yinxiuyuan community.
We Are all Heroes
On September 18th, Sheng Xiaoyan, a 2019 undergraduate from the School of Foreign Languages of Jiangnan University, brought the theme cloud sharing of “battlefield against the novel coronavirus & practice & learning & growth” ——We are all heroes.
When the epidemic broke out in her hometown Nanjing, Sheng Xiaoyan was doing an internship in Liyuan Development Zone, Wuxi City. In order to prepare for the national nucleic acid test, she took the initiative to go down to the grassroots level. And as an epidemic prevention and control volunteer, she assisted the staff of Yinxiuyuan community to conduct door-to-door inspections. In the scorching sun, she helped more than 80 residents and more than 30 shops and merchants download the "Lingxi" APP and pre-made codes for registered personnel.
Caring for hometown, attaching most important to country
On July 20, 2021, the epidemic in Nanjing was fierce. Sheng Xiaoyan was in Wuxi and was very worried about the safety of her family. She told her parents to wear masks every day and reduce gatherings. All Jiangsu cities, including Wuxi, have sounded the alarm and are always ready for the nucleic acid of all the people. Sheng Xiaoyan is doing an internship in the government. She is deeply aware of the important responsibilities shouldered by the younger generation and hopes to contribute her modest contribution to the prevention and control of the epidemic in Jiangsu. She participated in a nucleic acid test exercise in Liyuan Street, Binhu District, on July 29. Later, under the arrangements of the Binhu District Government and Jiangnan University, she joined the Youth Commando for Epidemic Prevention and Control and entered the community for voluntary work.
Rising to the challenge despite the hardships
In Yinxiuyuan community, Sheng Xiaoyan mainly assisted the staff in conducting through search to ensure that each household had successfully registered for the Nucleic Acid Testing QR Code. The task was full of difficulties and challenges, but she braved the difficulties and solved all problems with her patience and kindness.
The first residents she met were a deaf and dumb couple who were unable to communicate verbally. But she immediately thought of writing down the content with pen and paper, and efficiently completed the confirmation process. She also met with the elderly who were paralyzed and unable to go to the site for a nucleic acid test, so she recorded the details and returned to the community for special registration. Older people are the most common in old residential buildings. Some of them don’t have smartphones, and some do not know how to use them. Sheng Xiaoyan patiently helped those with smartphones to complete the registration step by step, and carried a printer with her to help those without smartphones to print QR codes. When there was nobody at home, she returned to the community office and phoned each of them one by one.
The young generation, live up to their mission
General Secretary Xi said: "The young generation is not afraid of hardship, difficulty and sacrifice, carrying a mountain of responsibility with their shoulders, showing their youthful and exciting and the hope of the Chinese nation!
Since the epidemic, countless post-90s and post-00s have been running on the front line of battlefield against the novel coronavirus, some of whom are medical personnel and some are volunteers. They are braving the hardships, riding the wind and waves to do their best to protect their country and reassure the people and the country, which fully shows the responsibility and undertaking of the young generation.
