Course Description:

Applied Linguistics is an optional course for English majors. The object of this course is to introduce relevant theories as well as research methods and content in Applied Linguistics. By studying this subject, students will gain better understanding of basic theories, research methods, tools and techniques utilized in the areas of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics and have an overview of the main factors affecting individual differences in language study and the influence on language teaching. In addition it will allow them to better grasp basic methods of research related to language acquisition and education. By applying case teaching, students will be able to learn how to combine theory with practice, solving the problems arising in the delivery of elementary English language education.
