At 8:30 am on November 12, the 5th“Interesting Sports · Burning Youth” Autumn Sports Meeting of the School of Foreign Studies was successfully held in the northwest playground of Jiangnan university. Shi Zhihong, secretary of the Party committee, Liu Boxian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Lu Fang, Secretary of the departmental Youth League Committee, and counselors and head teachers attended the opening ceremony, while undergraduate students of Grade 19, Grade 20 and Grade 21, as well as graduate students from Grade 22, participated in the opening ceremony performance.
First of all, there were presentations of the classes’ styles. Each class entered the sports field in turn with a confident smile on the students’ faces, striding in a neat step and holding their heads high. All students were energetic as they presented wonderful group performances for the opening ceremony, showing a vigorous and positive class spirit and playing a powerful opening note for the following sports competition.
The opening ceremony started with the solemn singing of the National Anthem. Shi Zhihong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Studies, delivered the opening speech: he affirmed the recent achievements of students in various sports events and expressed his high expectations for the athletes. He pointed out that the Sports Meeting should follow the guidelines of openness, fairness, and justice, and show the positive spirit and morality of the students of the School of Foreign Studies. Finally, he wished the Sports Meeting a great success.
Zhu Guan Yu, the athlete representative, swore that the Sports Meeting should promote the sportsmanship of higher, faster, and stronger, respect the opponents, obey the rules and pursue the desired results. Afterwards, Li Zhaoquan, the referee representative, swore that he would strictly abide by the rules and make fair judgments, followed by Liu Boxian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, who announced the official opening of the 5th Autumn Sports Meeting of the School of Foreign Studies of Jiangnan University.
This one-day Sports Meeting consisted of two categories: track and field events and fun events. The track and field events included 100m, 1500m, 1000m, 200m, 400m and 4*100m relay events, while the fun events included a whirlwind run, three-person quadrupeds and a back-pin ball. Athletes were sweating on the field, showing their athleticism.
The Sports Meeting responded to the national call for “Nationwide Fitness” which served as an important platform to promote the all-around development of students’ moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and labor skills, and also an important stage for them to display their youthful style. The Sports Meeting allowed students to further experience the spirit of sports and enhance their overall ability in the fervent sports competition.
The Sports Meeting was a great success as it helped to build up the physical strength of the young students, stimulate their fighting spirit and fully demonstrate the youthful elegance of the students of the School of Foreign Studies. We hope that the students will practice the sports concept of self-improvement and show their youthful spirit in their future study life, galloping on horses and fighting for glory!
