On October 26thafternoon, transformational education for freshpeople and the 19th“to Meet Yourself Better” were carried out in School conference hall and 1A410 of the teaching building. On the subject of “Multidimensional Life”, the alumna Lin Shiling was invited to share her experiences online. School 2022-grade freshpeople, together with part of 2021- and 2020-grade students, attended the meeting, which was presided by the instructor Miao Wenjian.
Before the meeting, the instructor Miao Wenjian introduced the alumna to the students: Lin Shiling-the graduate of School of Foreign Languages in 2017, one torchbearer for Beijing Winter Olympics, the selected youth in International Olympic Committee Young Leaders Program, as well as member of Commission on Digital Interaction and Marketing Communications of the International Olympic Committee. Then, she started to share her experiences in respects of “work” “school-attendance” “education”.
First of all, Lin Shiling gave an introduction of what she was occupied in-“the integration of traditional sports with modern sports” “youth interaction in traditional sports industry” “the digital presentation of traditional sports”. The animated short filmWater and Boatinitiated and produced by her was exhibited in International Olympic Committee Youth Summit held in Lausanne, Switzerland and gained favourable comments, with which she encouraged the students to break away from convention and be clever at improving innovation capability by various ways of thinking.
Next, Lin Shiling recalled her life in Jiangnan University. She mentioned her experiences of professional learning in School of Foreign Languages and the fun of participating in activities. Meanwhile, in respects of cultivating learning ability and exploring vocational development in multiple dimensions, she illustrated the enlightenment in campus with her own experiences.
At the end of the meeting, the students present put forward the questions they were interested in. in reply, she encouraged the students “to improve personal ability and well learn professional courses during trough period”, additionally she expected the freshpeople to embrace personal interests and be determined to themselves.
Lin Shiling’s affectionate words motivated students’ aspiration for forging ahead. They would be guided to actively explore personal interests and enrich campus life, with determined target of exploration, so as to create their own multidimensional lives. An example can have infinite power that the students at School of Foreign Languages will be bound to make efforts for their targets and explore their various possibilities. “Long had been my road and far was my journey, I would go up and down to seek my heart’s desire”, in the way of chasing dreams, the students at School of Foreign Languages will be better.
