Recently, the School of Foreign Study has rapidly raised the popularity of learning the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. In the afternoon of November 1, the postgraduate party branch of translation direction carried out a party day activity with the theme of "Giving gifts to the 20th National Congress and translating a warm heart to the future". Wang Jue, member of the University Discipline Inspection Commission and secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Science, participated in the listening tour. Shi Zhihong, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Study, Liu Boxian, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, Li Jian, a publicity member, and some party members who are postgraduates of the literature and linguistics direction participated in the activity. The activity was hosted by Ma Renfang, secretary of the Party branch of the translation oriented postgraduate.
The first project is the learning of the political theory. The party members carefully studied the report of the 20thCPC National Congress, reviewing the theme of the congress, the central task, the principle of “Five Adherences”, Chinese style modernization, strategy of two steps, the primary task and other important contents. They also watch the party lesson about reviewing the translation process of the party, which is made by students party members, and learned that the red translation sprouted during the May 4th Movement which promoted the wheel of Chinese history and changed the destiny of the Chinese nation. The participants also jointly learned the excerpts from the English version of the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and carried out the translation of current political documents.
In the discussion session, the Party members held a heated discussion based on the learning content, made an active speech, and exchanged their learning insights. Students said that through learning, they became more aware of the importance of constantly learning new ideas and theories, and new ideas can lead to new practice. As a member of a foreign language major, from the perspective of combining current affairs with majors, we should strengthen the study of correct expressions of bilingual current affairs hot spots, so as to better spread the red culture and establish a correct image of a big country.
In the quick question and answer session, the students actively answered and successfully completed various learning tasks.
Wang Yu commented on the activity. She believed that the activity was very successful and had the following characteristics: First, it was carefully planned and arranged, closely followed the study of current political theories, combined with the translation of micro party courses, reflected the professional characteristics, and combined learning with interaction. Second, integrating theory with practice, guiding practice with theory, reviewing the history of translation has enhanced professional pride, which is helpful for students to tell Chinese stories and spread Chinese culture. Third, integrate yourself into the times. During the communication, the students had a collision of ideas and the activity was very enlightening.
Wang Jue put forward requirements to the students, hoping that they can increase their abilities in learning, play the vanguard and exemplary role of the Party members, and better publicize and interpret the spirit of the Twentieth National Congress among students.
