On the afternoon of September 27th, Zhang Jingyan, director of the Student Affairs Department, and Li Ronghua, the vice director, came to the school of foreign languages to deliver letters of thanks to the teacher Li Liqiong and two students Yuan Ziyi and Lu Xiaowen, thanking them for what they had done in saving a student from potential danger. Shi Zhihong (Secretary of the CPC Committee of School of Foreign Studies), Fang Wenkai (Dean of School of Foreign Studies), Liu Boxian (Vice Secretary), and counselors attended the event.

Zhang Jingyan first expressed thanks to the teachers and students for their rapid response and warm companionship in this emergency. She said that the roommates reported the emergency the moment they found it, and the headteacher and counselor quickly rushed to school to comfort the student. It was these prompt and rapid responses that saved the student from danger and maintained the stability of school. Also, it would make sense to pay more attention to this student later in terms of daily life and psychological state. Zhang Jingyan emphasized the way to take good care of students with potentially mental problems and to handle emergencies in their daily work: that is, teachers should make a joint effort with parents to protect students’ health in their course of growth. Liu Boxian, the vice secretary, reported on the work of the college concerning students’ mental health. He said that in the process of educating students, the leaders, teachers and students of the college have all along adhered to the bottom line of life safety and guarded both physical and mental health of students through the construction of psychological consulting teams.

During the exchange, secretary Shi Zhihong and dean Fang Wenkai spoke on the construction of college's education team, the prevention of the epidemic on campus, and the strengthening of humanistic care. A few days ago, a student of the college was plagued by sudden emotional problems in the dormitory, and her roommate reported to the teacher immediately. The college vice secretary, counselor and headteacher rushed to school at the first time to calm down the student’s emotions, arranged for the students to look after her in the whole process to guarantee the student’s safety. As a result of high incidence of mental problems in autumn and the accumulated pressure from postgraduate qualification exam and employment, the college will further strengthen the guardianship role of counselors, headteachers, psychological commissioner and dormitories in psychological care, and cooperate with students’ parents to ensure students’ mental health.
