On November 13, 2021, the eighth “Casio New World” Cup Japanese dubbing contest in Jiangsu Province was held at Nanjing Forestry University, sponsored by the Association of Foreign Language Teaching in Jiangsu Province and organized by the School of Foreign Languages of Nanjing Forestry University. Five students from our School of Foreign Languages, including Yang Qingyan, Zhao Qiuqi, Duan Xiangle, Zhai Jinjin and Yang Yuying, under the guidance of teachers Yumiko Nakanishi and Kyohei Tamura from the Department of Japanese Language, worked hard and won the first prize of the competition.
The event consisted of a preliminary round and a final round. The preliminary round was a dubbing competition, and the team of Jiangnan University discarded the tension, encouraged each other, paid attention to details, and easily coped with the situation when they were drawn to appear second, and finally played their strength perfectly. After the competition, the team entered the final with the 4th best score among 31 universities in Jiangsu Province. In the final session Yang Qingyan performed well as a representative. In the short time of preparation, the team of Jiangnan University fully demonstrated its strength and brilliantly interpreted the understanding of the topic, which won a round of applause on the scene. During the finals, despite the objective conditions such as epidemic control, the students’ efforts and high spirit of struggle were not diminished at all. Under the careful guidance of the instructors, they strived for perfection, carefully polished every pronunciation and intonation, did not give up any detail of the character's expression and the overall atmosphere, pursued excellence and broke through the limits. In the final performance, they won a good result.
The Jiangsu Provincial University Japanese Dubbing Competition is the highest competition in Jiangsu Province in the category of dubbing. By organizing students to participate in this type of event, the Japanese Department of the School of Foreign Languages can promote the all-round improvement of Japanese majors’ visual, listening and speaking skills, and once again demonstrate the teaching and language practice skills of our Japanese Department to domestic and international colleagues.
