Students from School of Foreign Studies Fight on the Frontline against the Epidemic

Sep 9, 2021  Clicks:

Summer holiday, which ought to be related to relaxation and enjoyment for most undergraduates, was ruthlessly broken by the renewed outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic this year.

Nanjing, Yangzhou and many other places are successively facing the challenge of the epidemic. Encountering such a severe situation, there are a number of volunteers in Jiangnan University groping for their own ways to fight against the epidemic in the busy gap between school work. Although students from School of Foreign Studies rarely can fight on the frontline like medical workers, they do their best to shoulder their social responsibilities in the epidemic prevention and control at grass-roots level as volunteers.

They actively responded to the call, worked with the communities and devoted themselves to various works, such as taking temperature measurements, registering information and publicizing tips of epidemic prevention and control.

Having suffered a lot under the influence of COVID-19, which has massive destructive force, we all know that prevention and control is momentous. There’s no denying that in addition to the intense heat they had to bear, the complexity and difficulty of their works also could not be overlooked.

“Having been a volunteer, I realized that volunteer service not only cultivates my spirit, but also cultivates my endurance. We will feel a sense of great satisfaction when we dedicate ourselves to a certain deed which can truly benefit the society. Volunteering is not a pure dedication, however, we can also learn a lot from the activities and enrich ourselves with more experiences.” Dong Yutong, English 2001 said.

“At present, every young person should shoulder the task of epidemic prevention and control with our own meager efforts. Although what each volunteer does may be a minor effort, we can all work together to defeat the epidemic at last for all of us believe that a single spark can start a prairie fire.” Gong Ying, English 1904 said.

During their spare time, the volunteers also received interviews from media such as “Wuxi Broadcast” and “Wuxi News”, showing the spirit of frontline anti-epidemic volunteers and calling on more young people to devote themselves to fighting against COVID-19. Believe that being united in a concerted effort, we can finally pull through and get back to our normal life!
