Course Description:

English Translation is an elective course for senior Japanese major students, designed to cultivate the students’ ability to do written translation with the guide of translation principles and methods and techniques. This course is to lead the students to first have a knowledge of translation histories in China and the western world, then to grasp the principles, methods and techniques of translation, and then to do written translation, using the skills that they have learned. With the integration of theory and practice, the course aims to prepare students for common translation practice. It mainly covers translated histories in China and the western world, translation principles, methods/techniques of translation in words, sentences, paragraphs and texts, translation of all styles of texts, and CAT.
