Course Description:
Translation Theory and Practice is a compulsory course for English major students to improve their ability to translate with the guide of translation basic theories. This course aims to lead the students to gain knowledge of translation histories in China and the western world followed by grasping the principles, methods and techniques of translation. Students will then do written translation with the help of the techniques learned in the course.This course will also present the histories of China and the western world, translation principles, translation methods/techniques of words, sentences, paragraphs and texts, translation of all styles of texts, and CAT.
