Course Title: Translation of Chinese Classics Studies

Course Description:

This is an elective course for senior English major students. This course expects that students will be able to learn more about Chinese traditional culture; appreciate the spirit of Chinese classics studies; study translation methods and techniques, and raise students’ standards in their studies. The purpose of this course is to provide the students with guidance for learning the Chinese classics studies and enhancing their cultural standards. Students will focus their attention on The Analects of Confucius and Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu. They will be required to learn carefully selected pieces of the Chinese classics. Under the guidance of the basic theories and methods of translation studies, they will be encouraged to further their understanding of the cultural spirit of Chinese classics and promote Chinese cultural spread abroad.
