Course Description:

This course is an elective course for English majors, which is offered in the third and fourth semester. Generally, it mainly focuses on introducing to students the geographical locations, historical backgrounds, political systems, educational systems, religious beliefs, customs and social life of English-speaking countries, such as Great Britain, Republic of Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States. The aim is to help English majors understand the thinking modes, values and lifestyles of people living in these countries, which, hopefully, can enrich their cultural knowledge, broaden their horizons, train their sensibility and improve their abilities in intercultural communication
