Course Description:

The news translation is an elective course for senior English major students. The course is aimed at encouraging the students to be familiar with news stylistics and expressive features. In addition, this course is designed to enhance their abilities of English news reading and information acceptance; to grasp the principles and strategies of the news translation; to distinguish the features of news translation, and to further strengthen translating news in an effective manner.

Teaching this course is accomplished under the guidance of translation theories. Its aim is to analyze the strategies and techniques of news translation; to compare the translating features of different news stylistics, and to improve their standards of news translation between English and Chinese. At the age of information globalization, news translation is helpful in spreading Chinese culture throughout the world, and promoting communication between the Chinese and people from other countries.
