English Grammar is a systematic introduction to English grammar for first-year English majors from a scientific viewpoint. It deals with the central features of English grammar, such as verb and noun phrase construction, clause construction and tense and aspect, paying particular attention to areas that are relevant and of interest to Chinese-speaking learners of English. It combines grammatical description -- based on a hands-on approach -- with demonstrations of how such analytical techniques can be applied to real-world data and problems.
