Course Description
English Audio-Visual Practical Course is a practice project for English majors. With the application of modern information technology, together with well-selected audio-visual English materials, this course aims to familiarize students with the politics, economy, society, and culture in English-speaking countries and improve students’ listening skills. The course uses dictation, retelling of the listening materials, subtitling translation, and English debate to facilitate both input to students and production by students, and to encourage students’ learning (autonomy) via audio-visual practice. Enhanced listening skills will in turn stimulate students’ overall development in spoken English, interpretation, cross-cultural communication and creative thinking, which are all requisite proficiencies for those possessing English language expertise.
